Job Description:
Administers, maintains, develops and implements policies and procedures
for ensuring the security and integrity of the company’s Oracle 11.03
Applications and 8i, 9, and 10g databases. Implements data models and
database designs, data access and table maintenance codes; resolves
database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and
other distributed data issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Oracle Architecture and Options
Demonstrate and understand the memory structure and processes that make up
an Oracle Instance.
Demonstrate and understand the logical and physical structures associated
with an Oracle database.
Demonstrate and understand the use of PL/SQL constructs (Triggers,
functions, packages, and procedures) and their processes.
Demonstrate an understanding of distributed architecture and client server
technology.
Demonstrate an understanding of locking mechanisms.
Security
Create, alter and drop database users.
Create, alter and drop Oracle Application users.
Monitor and audit Oracle Application responsibility access.
Monitor and audit database access.
Develop and implement a strategy for managing security (roles, privileges,
authentication)
Data administration
Manage integrity constraints
Implement the physical database from the logical design.
Evaluate the implications of using stored procedures and constraints to
implement business rules.
Backup and Recovery
Understand backup options.
Develop backup and recovery strategies.
Manage the implementation of backup procedures.
Recover tables, tablespaces and databases.
Software maintenance and operation
Install, configure and upgrade Oracle Application 11.03 and 11i and
supporting products.
Install, configure and upgrade Oracle Web Servers and supporting products.
Install, configure and upgrade Oracle Database software.
Configure the Oracle database instance using initialization parameters.
Configure and manage SQL*Net
Configure and manage Oracle Enterprise Manager.
Create and duplication of Oracle Databases and Applications.
Demonstrate an understanding of the capabilities of underlying operating
systems as they relate to the Oracle database.
Resource Management
Create, analyze and manage indexes.
Evaluate the use of clusters and hash clusters.
Allocate and manage physical storage structures. (data files, redo logs,
control files, archive logs)
Allocate and manage logical storage structures. (tablespaces, schemas,
extents)
Control system resources usage by defining proper profiles
Perform capacity planning.
Tuning and Troubleshooting
Diagnose and resolve locking conflicts
Diagnose and resolve database bugs and issues.
Diagnose and resolve Oracle Application issues.
Use data dictionary tables and views.
Monitor the instance.
Collect and analyze relevant database performance information.
Identify and implement appropriate solutions for database performance
problems
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum 3 years MS SQL Server DBA experience
Experience supporting mission critical environments
Expert in SQL Server, T-SQL, DTS
Expert in SQL query writing
Strong Teamwork / Collaboration
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently to coordinate, organize and track tasks
effectively and meet project deadlines
